Gloria’s Cause
Evening-length dance theater piece (2010)
Created, choreographed and directed by Dayna Hanson
with Maggie Brown, Dayna Hanson, Wade Madsen, Paul Moore, Peggy Piacenza,
Dave Proscia, Pol Rosenthal and Jessie Smith
This evening-length dance theater collage used text, dance and original live rock music to probe the failings of the American Revolution. Performed by a nine-person cast, Gloria’s Cause presented a saturated, gritty examination of the roots of America’s inequities.
Commissioned by On the Boards, Gloria’s Cause toured to PuSH Festival, REDCAT, Fusebox Festival/Dance Umbrella Austin and Miami Light Project.
Gloria’s Cause was created in part with support from MAP Fund, National Dance Project, National Performance Network, On the Boards, Under the Radar Festival, 4Culture and Seattle Office of Arts & Culture.
“… A delicious dance-theatre exploration of the ironies inherent in the American Revolution … a freewheeling corporeal romp.”
