Dirty Work
Evening-length dance theater piece by 33 Fainting Spells (2002)
Choreographed and Directed by Dayna Hanson and Gaelen Hanson, in collaboration with Peggy Piacenza
Performed by Dayna Hanson, Gaelen Hanson and Peggy Piacenza
Drawing from Anton Chekhov’s short play, Swan Song, and The Entertainer, Tony Richardson’s 1960 film starring Laurence Olivier, Dirty Work was a tawdry, elaborately low-tech meditation on themes of age, regret, and the art of performance. Commissioned by Richard Hugo House, Dirty Work toured throughout the U.S. and in Europe, including a three-week, sold-out run at The Performing Garage in New York.
